Customers in China have placed more than 2 million pre-orders for Apple’s iPhone 13 lineup, surpassing the number of iPhone 12 pre-orders in 2020. According to AppleInsider, it is likely that due to the void left by Huawei in the market, demand for iPhones has significantly increased.

Chinese customers have already placed more than 2 million orders on retailer JD.com alone as of Thursday, according to China Morning Post.

This eclipses the 1.5 million iPhone 12 initial pre-orders placed after the lineup launched. The higher demand for Apple‘s iPhone 13 models appears to stem from the decline of Huawei.

How to Pre-order iPhone 13 series in India and When will it start?

The company’s reach has decreased due to the US trade sanctions, Huawei is unable to provide competitive high-end smartphones, their latest devices, the P50 and P50 Pro lack 5G connectivity due to the sanctions, the report mentioned.

According to The South China Morning Pist, the iPhone 13 models are priced lower than their iPhone 12 counterparts in China. Each device is about 300-800 yuan(3,419-9,117 INR) cheaper than their iPhone 12 counterpart, as per the report.

Overall smartphone shipments have been on the decline ever since Huawei’s troubles began. This gap left by Huawei in the market is yet to be filled by the other Android makers.

Apple, however, is thriving. In Q2 of 2021, Apple ranked as the fourth biggest smartphone vendor in China behind Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, as reported.
