She, a 24-year-old cricketer, who was recently included in the senior national women’s cricket team recognizes her mental strength as her secret weapon on the field.

Pratika Rawal: The Fusion of Psychology and Cricket

Pratika Rawal’s interest in psychology started at a young age. She made her decision in the ninth grade to take this subject, the initiation of which came from her interest in finding out the mind’s activities and their impact on cricket as well as in other aspects of her life. This choice later became one of the turning points in her life.

Pratika was heard saying on a BCCI video that the more her studies increased the greater the strengths of her mental game. She asserted, “I habitually engage in positive self-talk during the inventory period. I also pay attention to the current and future tasks. I tell myself while I’m batting, ‘You are the best, you can do this.’ This statement is important for me.”

Her mental strength which has come through this program has been the last straw that broke the camel’s back of her performances. It has also grown her into being one of the top choices to partner Smriti Mandhana at the opening.

A Remarkable Debut Against the West Indies

Pratika Rawal’s first match in the recent three-set Women’s ODI series with the Windies was memorable. Getting the first batting she scored 40 and 76 in the first two games in Vadodara, and with her help, India scored more than 300 runs twice in the series, which ended in a 3-0 series win.

Pratika has become a key figure in building strong alliances and keeping her cool under trying situations that have been reason to appreciate her contributions. Her fans as well as cricket analysts look at her as a superb partner for Smriti Mandhana in the opening slot.

Balancing Cricket and Academics

Pratika’s journey has been anything but easy. As an ambitious student, she had to pick between her academic work and her wanted career in cricket. She said, “I left the U19 team in twelfth grade as I had a desire to devote my time to my studies.”

Nevertheless, in spite of these restrictions, Pratika’s success in both her education and cricket has been remarkable. As well as improving her skills through psychology, her knowledge of it has become a tool to handle the pressures of international cricket.
