Poco M5 with Helio G99 chip launched in India

Poco has launched its latest budget phone in India; the Poco M5. Poco seems to be highlighting the phone’s leather-like textured back design as one of its marquee features. The device comes with an FHD+ screen with support for 90Hz screen refresh rate and is powered by a chipset by MediaTek.

POCO M5 5G flaunts a 90 Hz 6.67-inch Full HD+ display that provides 1080×2408 pixels resolution. The screen produces a pixel density of 401 PPI, comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection and has a waterdrop notch at the top. The 20:9 aspect ratio design gives you screen to body ratio of 84 percent. The power button and the volume rocker sit on the right side of the phone.

Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC and comes with up to 6GB RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.2 Storage. The device also comes with a virtual RAM feature that can add up to 2GB RAM by borrowing the same from the internal storage of the phone.

For photos and videos, the M5 comes with a triple rear camera setup that houses the 50-megapixel primary sensor alongside a 2-megapixel macro shooter and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, the phone is equipped with an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front.

POCO M5 5G gets backed up with a large 5000mAh battery that supports 18W charging speed via USB Type C port. For security purpose, this phone features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor under the power button and face unlock that works through the selfie camera. Connectivity features available on the device are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, 4G VoLTE, USB OTG, and GPS with GLONASS.

Poco has launched Poco M5 in India at a starting price of Rs 12,499 for a version with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will set you back by Rs 14,499. The phone will go on sale starting September 13 from Flipkart.
