PM Modi to Inaugurate High-Value Semiconductor Facilities: All You Need to Know
##A Vision for India’s Technological Future
PM Modi envisions India as a leading player in semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development. This initiative aligns with his vision of creating ample employment opportunities for the Indian youth.
To further this vision, the foundation stones will be laid for:
- A Semiconductor fabrication facility at the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), Gujarat.
- An Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility at Morigaon, Assam.
- An OSAT facility at Sanand, Gujarat.
##Investing in India’s Semiconductor Industry
The Semiconductor fabrication facility at DSIR, spearheaded by Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), will be established under the Modified Scheme for setting up of Semiconductor Fabs in India. With an investment exceeding Rs. 91,000 crore, this facility will be the first commercial semiconductor fab in the country.
The OSAT facilities in Morigaon and Sanand will be established by TEPL and CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited respectively, under the Modified Scheme for Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP). These facilities will see investments of about Rs 27,000 crore and Rs 7,500 crore respectively.
##Strengthening the Semiconductor Ecosystem
The establishment of these facilities will significantly strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem. These units are expected to create employment opportunities for thousands of youth in the semiconductor industry while also boosting job creation in related sectors like electronics and telecom.
##Involving the Youth
This programme is set to witness massive participation from youngsters, including thousands of college students, alongside leaders from the Semiconductor Industry. This initiative encourages the younger generation to engage with technology and recognizes its crucial role in shaping India’s technological future.
Join us on this momentous occasion as we mark a new era in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in the semiconductor industry.
