PlayStation Plus Games Catalog Adds 12 Titles for December 2024, Including Sonic Frontiers and Forspoken
The monthly free games packages usually consist of a selection of classic titles, but Sony has already rolled out Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves as part of its 30th-anniversary festivities earlier this month. They did not say if this would take the place of the regular options. Here are the games joining the catalog:
- Sonic Frontiers (PS4 + PS5)
- Forspoken (PS5)
- Rabbids: Party of Legends (PS4)
- WRC Generations (PS4 + PS5)
- F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch (PS4 + PS5)
- Jurassic World Evolution 2 (PS4 + PS5)
- Coffee Talk (PS4 + PS5)
- Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly (PS4 + PS5)
- A Space for the Unbound (PS4 + PS5)
- PHOGS (PS4)
- Biped (PS4 + PS5)
- Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge (PSVR2)
Sonic Frontiers marks the first time that the franchise has embraced an “open-zone” gameplay style. Review-wise, Forspoken came out mixed as its story and performance were not too great, to the point where it was a PS5 exclusive that just kind of underwhelmed, although the combat and parkour were a lot of fun. For multiplayer craziness, Rabbids: Party of Legends has a kooky four-player local co-op, and WRC Generations is an expansive rallying sim.
F.I.S.T. Forged in Shadow Torch is a “diesel-punk” platforming game heavy on combat and puzzles, and Jurassic World Evolution 2 lets you run your very own dinosaur park if you can overlook the bare-bones customization. For a more relaxed pace, Coffee Talk and its sequel Hibiscus & Butterfly offer cosy simulations of late-night barista life, while A Space for the Unbound tells a heartfelt story set in late-90s Indonesia.
PHOGS! Where Two Now Live is a two-headed dog duo solving puzzles, and Biped is a co-op adventure of robots traveling up and down elaborate paths. This latest entry is a VR experience that takes players into the Star Wars universe.
