Patna Pirates’ mind-boggling decision to not retain their most successful player Pardeep Narwal ahead of PKL season caused a shock to all the fans. Therefore the Record Breaker was about to go under the hammer and there was no doubt that he was the hottest prospect available in the entire auction. As a result, the entire country was waiting in anticipation for his name to come up in the Pro Kabaddi League auction yesterday.
When Pardeep Narwal’s name was announced by the auctioneer, fans watching at home were expecting fireworks. Subsequently expectations turned into reality as Telegu Titans wasted no time and went for the kill by making an opening bid of Rs 1.20 crore. This bid shows the quality of Pardeep as his base value was Rs 30 lakhs.
Following the initial bid, Bengaluru, Jaipur Pink Panther and UP Yoddha entered a bidding war. Consequently, the UP franchise came out on top of this battle to buy Pardeep Narwal for a record-breaking Rs.1.65 crore. In the end, the auctioneer asked the Patna franchise whether they would like to exercise their final bid match. Patna Pirates refused to do so and as a result, UP Yoddha got their hands on the Record Breaker.

Before this year Monu Goyat held the record of being the most expensive player in Pro Kabaddi League when Haryana Steelers bought him for 1.51 crore in Season 6. But UP Yoddha broke the bank by spending 1.65 crores to buy Pardeep Narwal and as a result, he became the most expensive player in PKL history.
Hence Pardeep Narwal shared his feelings in a conversation after becoming the costliest player in Pro Kabaddi League. “I am very happy that UP Yoddha bought me. This was the first time I appeared in an auction. So, it makes me very happy. I expected to be picked for over Rs 1.5 crore and that happened.”
In the end, the star raider deserves all the money and fame coming his way as he has earned the right through his dominant performances over the years for Pata Pirates. In his five seasons with Patna Pirates, Pardeep scored 1169 raid points in 107 matches. During this process, he helped Patna Pirates to win three successive PKL titles. Therefore it will be interesting to see how the record breaker performs in new colours.
