Argentinian football player Lionel Messi poses as he holds-up his number 30 shirt during a press conference at the French football club Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) Parc des Princes stadium in Paris on August 11, 2021. - The 34-year-old superstar signed a two-year deal with PSG on August 10, 2021, with the option of an additional year, he will wear the number 30 in Paris, the number he had when he began his professional career at Spain's Barca football club. If you had to name a few footballers with the best business mind, Barcelona’s centre-back Gerard Piqué would surely be one of them. He has his own football club and already made huge investments in sporting and various sectors, so he had to pounce on the opportunity to broadcast Ligue 1 matches as well.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Piqué’s company Kosmos in collaboration with Enjoy Television has acquired the television rights to French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for the next three seasons, until June 2024, according to 2playbook.com.

Though officially there are no figures as to how much this deal will be worth this source has specified that the previous contract, which Movistar+ had, estimated the payment for these rights at 2.5 million per year.

Fair enough, as Ligue 1 is getting popular as PSG has made a significant transfer move this season and already fans are eager to watch Messi play for the Paris team. Pique, through his company, will exploit the rights of a League which have got extremely popular after the arrival of Messi.

No doubt, Pique shared a special bond with Leo Messi, with whom the centre-back shared a dressing room for many seasons at FC Barcelona and now has a good option for business as French League has suddenly got even more popular.
