Veteran Actor Lee Deok Hwa Shakes Up Phantom Lawyer — Ghost or Living Client? Here’s What We Know

SBS’s Phantom Lawyer is back with a jaw-dropping new development in its second half, and this time, it’s legendary veteran actor Lee Deok Hwa who’s stealing the spotlight. Whether you’re a K-drama newbie or a seasoned fan, this episode is one you simply cannot skip.

What Is Phantom Lawyer About?

Phantom Lawyer is a quirky, heartwarming K-drama blending law and the supernatural. The story follows Shin I Rang (Yoo Yeon Seok), a lawyer who can see ghosts, and elite attorney Han Na Hyun (Esom), as they resolve the lingering grievances of their most unusual clients — the deceased — through the law.

Think Ghost meets a Korean courtroom. It’s emotional, funny, and surprisingly moving.

Episode Recap: Where We Left Off

In the last broadcast, Shin I Rang and Han Na Hyun dug into the truth behind a school violence case, shared their deep emotional scars, and grew closer. Han Na Hyun confirmed the presence of her older sister Han So Hyun (Hwang Bo Reum Byeol), who had possessed Shin I Rang — leading the two to share a unique secret.

Lee Deok Hwa’s Special Appearance — The Big Question

The newly released stills show Lee Deok Hwa exuding a strong aura in a refined suit, seen staring intently at a mysterious photograph alongside Shin I Rang — sparking viewers’ curiosity about whether he is a living client or a new deceased soul visible only to Shin I Rang.

The production team teased: “The highlight of this week’s broadcast is the special appearance by veteran actor Lee Deok Hwa. Please tune in to find out whether he is a living person or a deceased soul and in what role he will appear. The masterful performance of Lee Deok Hwa, whose name alone carries significant weight, will add even more depth and fun to the show.”

Why This Episode Matters for the Second Half

The photos hint that Han Na Hyun, who left the major law firm Taebaek, may be making a fresh start as Shin I Rang’s partner soompi — signalling a major dynamic shift. The duo’s combined strengths (supernatural vision + razor-sharp legal mind) are only getting stronger.
