Petr Kratky has been confirmed as the new manager of Mumbai City FC soon. The Czechian was previously the assistant manager of Melbourne City FC and has now arrived in India, remaining in the City Football Group network, also consisting of Manchester City, New York City FC, Girona and more from across the world.Â
City were left stunned by the departure of Des Buckingham, with the Briton leaving to manage his hometown club Oxford United. Buckingham was also the assistant coach of Melbourne City when he moved to India, and won the ISL title with the Sky Blues before moving on.Â
Petr Kratky becomes new Mumbai City FC head coachÂ
Petr Kratky arrived in Melbourne in 2017 after playing for six years with Australian team Heidelberg United. He hung up his boots in 2015, and then moved into coaching as a development coach before becoming the assistant manager, replacing Buckingham when he joined Mumbai.
And now, he will be replacing the Briton once again, taking charge of ISL’s biggest club. City are currently fourth in the ISL table, with 14 points from six games played. They are behind in terms of number of matches played due to their participation in the AFC Champions League, and are expected to rise higher once they have played as many games as the rest.
