Pele has issued a positive update on his health amidst concerns of his condition worsening. The 82-year-old was reportedly placed in palliative care after not responding to chemotherapy. The veteran is reportedly battling colon cancer, and calmed fans down saying that there is no further worsening in his condition.

“Pele’s response was adequate and the patient is stable, with a general improvement in his state of health,” the doctor stated.

“My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual. I want to thank the entire medical and nursing team for all the care I have received. I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy. And watch Brazil in the World Cup too,” Pele wrote on Instagram.

The legendary Brazilian forward was diagnosed with a respiratory infection, based on the latest reports from Sao Paulo. A previous update from his daughter suggested that there is no emergency, and that he is receiving his regular treatment as planned.
