Juventus star Paulo Dybala and his girlfriend Oriana Sabatini had tested positive for Coronavirus a few weeks ago. Now they are on their path to recovery. Dybala feels staying at home is the best way to fight with the pandemic.
Italy is one of the most affected countries in the world. More than 110,000 people have tested positive with a death toll of around 13,000. Serie A has also been suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the whole country has been locked down in an attempt to control this pandemic.
Dybala and Oriana are feeling much better now and is on their way to full recovery. Currently, both of them are in home-isolation.
Dybala said: “I always try to give a message of what happened to me, that people take it seriously and that they stay at home.”
“All the people here have been very good to us and there are many cases here. I always tell them I’m fine and to try to see the people who really need it. Well, luckily [we are] much better, these days we do not have any symptoms.”
“I had stronger symptoms, I got tired very quickly, when I wanted to train, I was short of breath after five minutes. There we noticed that something was not right and through the tests the club did we were told that we were positive. From there we had more symptoms, such as cough, tired body and when we slept I felt very cold, but from the club, they had told us that we were going to be fine so we had to be calm.”
He further added: “It is a bit psychological because you feel something and you are already afraid. I tried to think that it might not be that.”
“Oriana and I will need to do the test again to know if is gone or not. And we will know the truth. I always joke, thinking that it was me who transmitted the virus to her since some of my team-mates of Juventus had it. I am sure it was me.”
Dybala also talked about how difficult it was for the Juventus players to come to an agreement regarding the salary cut to help the club as they have no earnings right now with the league being suspended.
He said: “Chiellini called me, he’d had a chat with the president [Agnelli], and the club was asking us to help them. This was because the club, right now, has no income from anywhere and is now on the stock market, which changes the way they work.”
“So the captain asked us if we could do something for them, so in the end they signed a statement saying that we would give up part of our salary to help the club at this time.”
“There were differing opinions in the group. For example, some players might have needed a few more games for an appearance-based bonus. Each player came up with different idea, and it was difficult to come to an agreement.”
“The players who’d been here for longer had a chat, and we came to the conclusion that this was the best solution. We don’t know what’s going to happen, maybe in fifteen days they’ll tell us we can play again, with or without fans.”
