French club Lens have reached an agreement to sign Bodo/Glimt captain Patrick Berg. The midfielder will make the switch in the January transfer window, and will sign a four-and-a-half-year deal until 2026.

The reported transfer fee for the player is around €4 million. He was rumoured to be on the radar of Galatasaray and Celtic, but has snubbed those offers in favour of joining Lens. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player will complete his medicals for the transfer today with the announcement pending soon.

Patrick Berg came through the Lens academy and has only featured for them so far in his professional career. His contract with the club expires in June 2022, and Bodo/Glimt have decided to cash in on the opportunity and sell him for a fee in the winter transfer window.

In 41 games across all competitions for Bodo/Glimt, Patrick Berg has scored 8 goals and provided 9 assists.

Since making his debut for the Norwegian national team in March 2021, he has earned 9 caps for them. He plays in a defensive midfield position and can also be a dominant central midfielder. As the stats clearly show, he also has an eye for goal and can put in the final ball for his teammates as well.

Lens are currently sixth in the Ligue 1 table and are competing for European spots. The arrival of a leader like Berg in the heart of the park would certainly provide more stability to the team and help them put up a stronger challenge for the top 5.
