Football is a very difficult game to call, and some of the top club managers have had to sustain heavy defeats during their career. With that in mind, here are the biggest defeats sustained by some of the popular managers in recent years.

Pep Guardiola

  • Everton 4-0 Man City
  • Barcelona 4-0 Man City

Guardiola is among the greatest managers of football, and all of his biggest four-goal defeats have come during his time with Bayern Munich and Manchester City, following his spell at Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp

  • Manchester City 5-0 Liverpool
  • Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool

Klopp’s greatest defeats have been by a five goal margin, and the shocking defeat against Aston Villa was the most recent one. The team conceded seven goals away from home and replied with two for themselves.

Arsene Wenger

  • Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal

The legendary Arsenal manager’s biggest defeats came late in his tenure with the Gunners. Both of them, though, were against their big rivals Chelsea and Manchester United away from home. The loss against United was particularly heavy, as Arsenal conceded 8 goals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

  • Man Utd 1-6 Tottenham
  • Man Utd 0-5 Liverpool

Both of Solskjaer’s biggest defeats have come at Old Trafford, with the most recent being the embarrassment against Liverpool. In both matches, United finished the game with ten men.

Jose Mourinho

  • Bodo/Glimt 6-1 Roma
  • Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid

Mourinho’s most recent big defeat came in the Europa Conference League, with Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt handing them a loss. The other five goal defeat was against Barcelona in the iconic 2010 El Clasico.
