K-drama fans, September 16 brought a headline worth bookmarking. Park Jinyoung and Jeon So Young are reportedly circling the lead roles in an upcoming historical romance titled “Hash’s Shinru” (literal translation) — and the premise alone is enough to make sageuk lovers sit up.
According to Korean media reports, the two actors have been named as leads for the project. Their agency BH Entertainment kept things measured, describing it as one of several offers currently on the table. So: not signed, but very much in play.
What the drama is about?
Adapted from a hit web novel, “Hash’s Shinru” is set in 15th-century Joseon. Park Jinyoung has been offered the role of Crown Prince Lee Hyang — a genius scientist and monarch determined to push Joseon forward. Jeon So Young is in talks to play Hae Ru, a mysterious woman who can see the future, follows the Crown Prince into the palace, and ends up both aiding him and falling for him.
The script comes from Yoon Yi Soo, the web novel’s original author — and the same writer behind the novel that became the beloved “Love in the Moonlight.” That pedigree is a big part of why this casting news is trending.

Why fans are excited?
Park Jinyoung has built a steady acting résumé beyond his idol roots, most recently charming viewers in “Yumi’s Cells 2.” Jeon So Young, who made a cameo in “Yumi’s Cells 3,” is one of the fresher faces being pushed into leading territory. Pairing them in a fantasy-tinged sageuk — a genius reformer king opposite a woman burdened with foresight — is exactly the kind of high-concept romance that travels well internationally.
Nothing is locked in yet, so treat this as promising rather than confirmed. Casting talks in Korea often shift before contracts are signed.
