Overwatch Season 1: Reign of Talon Brings 5 New Heroes

Overwatch is making history with its biggest seasonal launch ever. The Reign of Talon event introduces a year-long narrative arc and delivers five brand-new heroes on February 10, 2026—the largest single-season hero drop in franchise history. Season 1 kicks off an unprecedented storytelling experience that will unfold through Season 6.

Five New Heroes Launching February 10

Year-Long Narrative Experience

For the first time, Overwatch is telling a fully connected story across an entire year. The Reign of Talon narrative unfolds through cinematic releases, motion comics, in-game events, animated hero trailers, new voice lines, and short stories. Players will watch the world shift in real-time with updated maps and evolving storylines.

Ten total heroes will join throughout 2026, with the first five arriving in Season 1. Each hero directly ties into the overarching Talon vs. Overwatch conflict, creating unprecedented narrative integration between gameplay and story.

Conquest Meta Event

Season 1 features Conquest, a five-week meta event where players choose allegiance to either Overwatch or Talon. Complete faction-specific missions weekly to earn rewards including 75 base lootboxes, 12 epic lootboxes, 7 legendary lootboxes, faction-themed legendary Echo skins, exclusive titles, voice lines, and cosmetics. Players can switch factions after completing their current week’s pass.

New Role Sub-Classes & Passives

Tanks now divide into Bruiser, Initiator, and Stalwart sub-roles. Damage heroes split into Sharpshooter, Flanker, Specialist, and Recon. Support heroes become Tactician, Medic, or Survivor—each with unique passive abilities that enhance strategic gameplay and team composition.

Hello Kitty Collaboration

From February 10-23, Overwatch teams up with Hello Kitty & Friends for themed skins including Juno as Hello Kitty, Kiriko as Cinnamoroll, Mercy as Pompompurin, D.Va as My Melody, Widowmaker as Kuromi, and Lucio as Keroppi.

Major Systems Updates

Season 1 introduces a complete UI/UX refresh with a new 3D lobby system, Notification Hub, and streamlined navigation. The new Praise feature lets players use hero voice lines for positive feedback. Competitive year resets with the new Crimson Wolf weapon and exclusive Doomfist skin for Diamond+ players. Post-Match Accolades return later in 2026 with full 3D hero models.
