Ousmane Dembele is on his way out of Barcelona, with club director Mateu Alemany speaking out on the issue. “It’s clear that Dembélé does NOT want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project”, said Alemany about the French winger.
“We told Dembélé he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before Jan 31”
The player only has six months remaining on his current deal, and has been evading a new contract for a very long time. Despite rumours that the player had accepted a lower salary to extend his stay at the club, things have now taken a turn in the opposite direction.
“Our coach has decided we do not want players with us who are not committed to the project, and do not want to be at Barca. So not being in the squad is a consequence of all this. The coach makes the decision, as must be, but he has our full support.”

The 24-year-old has released a statement about the issue as well, calling people out for speaking on his behalf and his representatives. He has reassured fans that he is focused on matters on the pitch, and that his agent is dealing with the matter.
Although Xavi said that he wouldn’t bench the player until the end of the season, it seems now that he won’t be using the player if he isn’t sold by the end of the January transfer window.
Chelsea, Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Ousmane Dembele following the news that he might be leaving Barcelona. However, his extremely high wage demands might prove to be a problem in the transfer.
