Oppo Find N5, the successor to the Oppo Find N3 that was soft-launched in October 2023, is reportedly in the works. There has yet to be an exact release date, but an Oppo executive teased the foldable could arrive in the first half of next year.
The next-gen foldable will be sold globally under its working name, OnePlus Open 2, and it appears to be the case for the predecessor Find N3, which was rebranded as the OnePlus Open. The newest foldable is likely to be equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it might even be one of the first foldables to feature this specific chipset.

Zhou Yibao, Oppo’s Executive Director, responded to a question on Weibo indicating that the Oppo Find N5 will be launched in China ahead of the Oppo Find X8 Ultra. In fact, the Find X8 Ultra is expected to arrive before the Chinese Year, which is on January 29. The other tipster, Yogesh Brar from India, also pointed out that the OnePlus Open 2 would be coming soon and earlier than previously reported, which could heighten competition in Samsung’s foldable Galaxy lineup.
Hardware specifics are murky although the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 will reportedly use the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets. It should be more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, which could offer improved performance and efficiency. If the foldable is launched in January, however, it could mean some serious competition for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and possibly kick-start the competition between it and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 expected in mid-2025.
Both devices are also said to feature a 50-megapixel triple rear camera array, wireless magnetic charging support, and a design that is reportedly slimmer and slimmer than the predecessors. Other highlights could be 2K resolution displays, an IPX8 rating for water resistance, and an alert slider. These upgrades would put the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 in a prime position in the premium foldable series.
