OPPO announced a new TWS headset in its Enco Free series at the OPPO Reno 6 series launch event today. The new OPPO ENCO Free 2 model includes important improvements such as Active Noise Cancellation up to 42dB and audio tuning by DYNAUDIO. This would make it the second OPPO device to be tuned by the famous Danish audio outfit, following the OPPO ENCO X.
The Oppo Enco Free generation was released in 2019. It uses a semi-in-ear design and does not support active noise reduction. The Oppo Enco Free2 has been changed to an in-ear design, similar to the design of Oppo Enco X.
Oppo Enco Free 2 specs and price
As we can see in the image below, the OPPO Enco Free 2 has a noise reduction depth of up to 42dB and supports transparent mode. The headset is also tuned in conjunction with Dynaudio, equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, three-microphone fairy tale noise reduction, IP54 dust, and waterproof with up to 30 hours of music playback time.
The Enco Free2s have 10mm, drivers, whereas those of the X buds are 11mm. The two types do look similar, however, being AirPod clones with ear-tips. The newer models are rated for a sensitivity of 103±3 decibels (dB), have a frequency range of 20-20,000 hertz (Hz).
It’s also encouraging to see OPPO extending DYNAUDIO tuning to the lower-cost “Free” series. However, unlike the Enco X, which has the DYNAUDIO logo on its charging case, the Free2’s box and case lack similar branding.
The new OPPO Enco Free2 will go on sale in China from June 5 for 599 yuan (~$94) which is a good 100 yuan (~$16) cheaper than its predecessor’s launch price back in 2019!
