OPPO and Discovery Are Handing Indian Creators ₹5 Lakh and a Film Deal — Here’s How to Win

If you’ve been making reels between classes or shooting short films on your phone during weekends, OPPO just built a program that was made for you. OPPO India, in collaboration with Discovery (Warner Bros.), has launched the Filmmaker Accelerator Program — a contest where the winner walks away with ₹5,00,000 in cash, an OPPO Find X9 Ultra, and the chance to co-direct a short film with OPPO x Discovery in the second half of 2026.

This isn’t a brand hashtag challenge. It’s a structured, mentorship-led program aimed at genuinely developing the next generation of Indian mobile filmmakers.

What Is the Filmmaker Accelerator Program?

Launched under OPPO’s newly introduced LUMO Creator Program, the Filmmaker Accelerator is the centrepiece of the third edition of the ‘Culture in a Shot’ initiative — a collaboration between OPPO India and Discovery that has now been running for three consecutive years.

This year’s theme: “Meet Culture Anew, Make Your Moment” — a shift from documenting tradition toward capturing how culture is being actively reshaped by a new generation through everyday moments of creativity, connection, and expression.

The contest is open from May 5 to July 15, 2026, and is open to any Indian resident aged 18 or above.

Entries will be judged on cultural relevance, visual aesthetics, originality, and emotional impact. A Top 10 shortlist will be selected before Vikram Channa, VP and Editorial Chief at Warner Bros. Discovery, picks the final winner.

What Makes This Different From a Typical Brand Contest?

Most brand contests hand out a phone and call it a day. The Filmmaker Accelerator goes several steps further by offering something more valuable than hardware — access and mentorship.
