OnePlus Watch 2 Appears on BIS India Certification, Hinting at Imminent Launch

The anticipated OnePlus Watch 2 is set to launch either in 2023 or early 2024. This smart wearable will be the successor to the 2021 OnePlus Watch, which had a price tag of ₹14,999 in India. In 2021, OnePlus entered the market with the release of both the OnePlus Band and the Watch.

However, in 2022, OnePlus chose not to release updated versions of either the Watch or Band, in India. Instead, they introduced their wearable under the Nord brand called the OnePlus Nord Watch. Now in November 2023, there is news surrounding the OnePlus Watch 2 as it has recently been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification site.

The OnePlus Watch 2, identified by the model number “OPWWE231,” has been listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards website, suggesting an imminent launch. Based on previous leaks, the OnePlus Watch 2 is expected to debut in early 2024, possibly alongside the OnePlus 12.

OnePlus has established itself as a leading smartphone brand in India, offering both budget-friendly and premium devices. OnePlus has also made a mark in the audio industry with products like the Nord Buds, Buds Z series, and Buds Pro series. With the introduction of the OnePlus Watch 2 in India, the company aims to compete in the premium smartwatch market alongside major players like Apple and Samsung.

Although there’s no official confirmation yet, there are exciting anticipated features. Firstly, the Watch 2 is expected to run on Wear OS, enabling features like Google Play, expanded app support, native WhatsApp, Google Assistant, and more. Secondly, it’s rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, specifically designed for wearables.
