The OnePlus Fold will be called the new OnePlus Open – All You Need to Know
OnePlus will soon launch its first foldable device ever called the OnePlus V Fold or OnePlus Fold, however, to take a break from the existing naming convention, the smartphone giant will take a different approach as per Max Jambor. So, it will call its first-ever foldable smartphone the OnePlus Open and not OnePlus Fold, which could be a bold decision we would say.
OnePlus Open Specifications
The upcoming OnePlus Open is set to deliver impressive specifications and features as confirmed by MySmartPrice that make it a strong contender in the foldable phone market. Anticipated to launch in the coming months, industry sources have revealed some key details about the device.
Design renders showcase a circular camera module on the back, with text confirming that the phone will feature Hasselblad-tuned cameras. Both displays feature hole-punch cutouts, with the outer display’s cutout positioned at the center and the foldable display’s cutout located in the top left corner.
The OnePlus Open is expected to sport a massive 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 2K resolution, ensuring a stunning visual experience. The screen will feature a 120Hz refresh rate, providing smooth and fluid interactions. Additionally, there will be a 6.3-inch AMOLED display on the outside with a matching 120Hz refresh rate, offering convenient access to notifications and quick tasks.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Open will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm, ensuring powerful performance and seamless multitasking. It is rumored to come with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, offering ample space for all your files and applications. The device will also pack a substantial 4800mAh battery to keep you powered throughout the day. While it may not support the ultra-fast 100W charging seen in the flagship OnePlus 11, it will still offer 67W charging out-of-the-box for quick and convenient charging.
In the camera department, the OnePlus Open will feature a triple-camera setup on the back. Sources suggest a 48MP primary camera sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP telephoto camera sensor, offering versatility and high-quality imaging. Details about the optical zoom capabilities are yet to be confirmed. For selfies, the cover screen will house a 32MP front camera, and there will be a secondary 20MP front camera on the inside for when the device is unfolded.
The OnePlus Open is expected to run on Oxygen OS 13.1, based on the latest Android 13, out of the box. Leaked details also point to the inclusion of an alert slider and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for added convenience and security.
