OnePlus announced today that the OnePlus Open Apex Edition in Crimson Shadow will be available in the stunning new colorway Crimson Shadow starting on August 7. The new OnePlus Open Apex Edition raises the bar with improved storage, AI image editing features, and cutting-edge security features, further establishing its leadership in foldable smartphone technology in 2024 and building on the acclaimed flagship experience that earned the original OnePlus Open series the milestone title of “Foldable of the Year” in 2023.
OnePlus Open Apex Edition in Crimson Shadow details
This latest model, according to OnePlus, offers “enhanced storage” as well as new AI picture editing capabilities. A RAM upgrade is also hinted at on the device’s OnePlus.com page.
Why launch an updated version of a foldable that has been out for a year? According to OnePlus, the existence of this product is a “clear affirmation of our dominance in the foldable space.”
Hasselblad contributed some of the tuning for the OnePlus Open’s incredibly good cameras. The red color is based on a special version of the Hasselblad 503CW camera. Additionally, the Alert Slider adopts some orange elements to resemble the camera.
The OnePlus Open 2 is lagging behind Samsung’s most recent Galaxy Z Fold 6 in terms of technology, so if the firm has to take action to ensure that its folding phone is still relevant in 2024, it will have to do so.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 engine, twin 6.31-inch cover screens, triple cameras with Hasselblad calibration, and 7.82-inch unfolded screens are among the characteristics of the OnePlus Open, which was released in October 2023.
We will find out if the OnePlus Open Apex Edition is more than just a new red color and if Samsung is about to face some unexpected competition when OnePlus launches the device on August 7.
