OnePlus Watch which was priced at around Rs 13,999 has now been stopped and replaced with this smartwatch. Thanks to OnePlus, we have got our hands on the Midnight Black version of the OnePlus Nord Watch. After using it for around 1 week, we will review the smartwatch in detail.

Connectivity

OnePlus has launched the N Health App for connecting the OnePlus Nord Watch with your smartphone. It is available for both Android and iOS. So, you’ll need to download the app and pair your smartwatch and smartphone via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth 5.2 version helps highly reduce the power consumption of the watch and brings better stable and fast transmission to Android & IOS (compatible with Android 6.0 & IOS 11.0 and above).

After pairing, you can customise the OnePlus Nord Watch from your smartphone. You can also track all your fitness activities in one place. You can choose from 100+ watch faces available in the app. You can also long-tap the watch face in the OnePlus Nord Watch to choose from the recently installed watch faces. However, I noticed that the watch face doesn’t sync correctly with the app sometimes, which I guess will be sorted out in the next updates.

Design and build quality

The OnePlus Nord Watch comes with a square dial like the Apple Watch. So, if you like a round dial, it can be a deal breaker for you. However, if you are flexible with the dial shape, then the OnePlus Nord Watch design will definitely catch your eye.

The Zinc alloy metal finish of the watch gives it a premium look and finish. The Silicon strap with stainless steel buckle also feels quite good as it is the same which was used in the OnePlus watch. The button on the side of the watch also feels quite durable as OnePlus claims.

The watch is also not on the much heavier side. It weighs 35.6g (without strap) and 52.4g (with strap). You can easily wear it all day without any trouble.

Display

The OnePlus Nord Watch comes with a big display of 1.78″. It has an AMOLED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. It can go up to 500 nit peak brightness which makes it suitable for outdoor use. The display has 368*448 resolution with 326 PPI. The display content of the screen can be clearly seen even under strong sunlight.

You’ll get a fast and smooth experience with 60Hz smoothest smart watch refresh rate and minimalist round 2.5D. It also reduces motion blur and makes the action feel smoother, makes the picture appear sharper, and makes smartwatches feel more responsive and speedy. This is one of the best displays in a smartwatch you can find in this 5k range.

Charging and battery backup

The OnePlus Nord Watch comes with a magnetic charger which is super easy to use. However, it doesn’t have fast charging.

OnePlus claims it runs 10 days with a single charge and 30 days on standby. It is true to some extent as OnePlus doesn’t have a built-in GPS, it will consume less battery and will run for around 8 days and if you use it by turning off the sleep monitoring feature, it can also run up to 9-10 days. So from the battery backup perspective, it is quite good and performs as claimed.

Features and functionalities

OnePlus has given 105 sports modes to monitor your fitness data. However, it misses one important thing, built-in GPS, which could have made your outdoor exercise sessions even more accurate.

It has a One Tap Measurement option to measure all your health vitals instantly. It also has Smart health monitoring technology with SpO2 Blood Oxygen, 24-hour heart rate, Sleep tracking, all-day stress tracking and many more. For women, it also features women’s health tracking which tracks menstrual cycles digitally for early prediction of periods.

You can control the music on your smartphone and also click the pictures on your smartphone from the OnePlus Nord Watch. However, it doesn’t support Bluetooth calling which can be a big letdown.

The watch does has IP68 water and dust resistance rating which makes it easier to wear during sweaty workouts.

Verdict

The OnePlus Nord Watch doesn’t justify its Rs 4,999 price tag. If the price was around Rs 3,000, then it could have been one of the best in the market. It is more like an upgraded fitness band rather than a feature-loaded smartwatch.

However, due to the brand value and trust of OnePlus, it is priced on the higher side. So, if you want to buy a smartwatch to build an ecosystem with your OnePlus smartphones, earbuds, etc, then you can go for it. Or else, there are other smartwatches in the market in this 5k range, which offer more value for money.
