OnePlus Nord 4 Headlines Summer Launch Event on July 16

OnePlus has announced a Summer Launch event set for July 16, but the company hasn’t said what exactly will be unveiled that day. Tipster on X Yogesh Brar has claimed that one of the devices anticipated to launch is none other than a brand new OnePlus Nord 4, keeping along with tradition after last year saw the release of its predecessor, another mid-range offering from this popular smartphone maker.

While there will likely be an even later model launching, the tipster also says July’s third week is when we can expect to see both the OnePlus Buds 3 Pro TWS earphones and the next Wear OS smartwatch from OnePlus, which it refers to as ‘OnePlus Watch 2R.’ For now, information on these products is kept under wraps.

It’s noteworthy that OnePlus recently launched the Nord CE 4 Lite under ₹20,000 and the Nord CE 4 under ₹30,000. Therefore, the introduction of the original OnePlus Nord 4 smartphone isn’t surprising, as it completes the company’s Nord lineup upgrades for this year. The Nord 4 is expected to be priced even lower, as OnePlus only offers the OnePlus 12R at ₹39,999 in India.

Last time, the Indian pricing of OnePlus Nord CE 3 started at ₹33,999. However, a hike in the base price above ₹35,000 is something that could lead to problems for OnePlus as consumers may choose the better-performing OnePlus 12R instead within this price bracket.

OnePlus Nord is aimed at users willing to spend a tad extra for better features and experience than other Nord models under ₹35,000. Whether or not the OnePlus Nord 4, due in about a year from now can justify that kind of price and pull customers back is unclear because by then we might see competitors like iQOO Neo 9 Pro and Poco F6 on Indian shores.

According to the tipster, the OnePlus Nord 4 is expected to go on sale during the Amazon Prime Day sale starting on July 20. Leaks indicate that the OnePlus Nord 4 could potentially be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive OnePlus Ace 3V. This model features a 6.74-inch OLED flat display with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 1,100 nits of HBM, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It also boasts an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance. Powered by a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, the device runs on Android 14 OS.
