OnePlus had initially announced that the launch of the OnePlus 12 in China would take place on December 4. However, the company later rescheduled the event to December 5 for reasons that remain undisclosed. Despite the delay, OnePlus has now officially disclosed some crucial hardware specifications for its highly anticipated flagship smartphone.
OnePlus 12 Coming with Wireless Charging and IR blaster
In a recent Weibo post by OnePlus China president Li Jie, it was revealed that the OnePlus 12 will mark the return of wireless charging, a feature conspicuously absent in its predecessors, the OnePlus 11 and the OnePlus 11R. Although the post did not provide details about the charging speed, speculations suggest that the device may support 50W wireless charging.
Additionally, the post unveiled other noteworthy features of the OnePlus 12, including a built-in IR blaster and a novel ‘Rain Water Touch’ functionality designed to address touchscreen challenges during rainy weather. OnePlus has previously confirmed certain hardware specifications, such as a dazzling 2,600 nits 2K AMOLED screen developed in collaboration with BOE, emphasizing superb brightness. Rumors further speculate enhancements in PWM dimming for the upcoming phone.
Maintaining the design language of its predecessor with slight modifications to the camera island, the OnePlus 12 is set to house a 48MP Sony Lytia 808 primary sensor, previously featured in the OnePlus Open. Complementing this primary sensor will be an ultrawide sensor and a periscope lens, promising an advanced and versatile camera setup.
While a recent report from GSMArena hinted at a global launch on January 24, prominent tipster Max Jambor suggests that the OnePlus 12 might make its debut in India a day earlier, on January 23. However, it is advised to approach this information with caution, as OnePlus has yet to officially unveil the global launch date, leaving room for potential changes or updates.
