On November 7, OnePlus disclosed that the upcoming smartphone will include a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. The President of OnePlus China, Li Jie, confirmed this via Weibo. Based on previous leaks, it’s likely that the periscope zoom camera will utilize an OmniVision OV64B sensor and may offer up to 3x optical zoom. OnePlus has also shared some camera samples from the OnePlus 12 on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, highlighting the camera’s improved low-light performance.
Furthermore, OnePlus and its BBK Electronics subsidiary, Oppo, are hosting an Imaging Strategic Communication and Paris Film Festival event on November 9 in China. During this event, the company will showcase more of the OnePlus 12’s imaging capabilities.
The OnePlus 12 has already been confirmed to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a 50MP Sony LYTIA LYT808 primary rear camera sensor. The OnePlus 12 is likely to first launch in its home country next month, with a global launch possibly happening in January. According to previous leaks, it will run on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14. It’s rumored to sport a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The phone is expected to include features such as an alert slider and an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication. In terms of battery, it’s likely to house a 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
