Last month Steam released its survey for the video card usage, and expectedly, Nvidia secured most of the spots in the rankings. According to the survey, out of 20 places, 18 were occupied by the gree team. AMD Radeon RX 580 (11th) and AMD Radeon RX 570 (16th) managed to sneak into the higher end of the chart.
Even though we know that AMD has been making quiet GPU technology progress, it is still quite far from catching up to Nvidia. The company has a habit of dominating every sector of the gaming market. Its upcoming CMP variants prove that the green team is aiming at complete market dominance in the video card segment.
The survey data indicate that out of all the most popular cards turned out to be the GeForce GTX 1650, RTX 2060, and RTX 3080. All three saw +0.24%, +0.21%, and +0.11% gains for the month, respectively. Reports indicate that OEMs utilize the GeForce GTX 1650 and GeForce RTX 2060, frequently in desktop PCs and laptops.
The reason for their popularity is that the green team offers a good price-performance ratio, and the RTX 3080 is new in the market has earned its place in the hearts of gamers.
But, next AMD will be introducing the highly anticipated variants of its Radeon RX 6000 series. And Intel is preparing a full foray into the dGPU world with its upcoming DG2 or Xe-HPG products. This would certainly shake the Team Green-dominated video card chart. Which we wholeheartedly welcome, by the way. The reason you ask, it because it’s impossible to procure an Ampere card at anywhere close to its real MSRP.
