NVIDIA has incorporated support for its forthcoming RTX 5880 Ada GPU in its latest drivers, targeting this graphics processing unit as a high-end solution for workstations. Recent US regulations and policies resulted in the exclusion of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 6000 Ada GPUs from export to China. Although the alternative to the GeForce RTX 4090 has been unveiled as the RTX 4090 D, NVIDIA is simultaneously developing an alternative to its flagship workstation GPU in the form of the RTX 5880 Ada.

All About NVIDIA RTX 5880 Ada

While specific details regarding GPU specifications and availability remain undisclosed, it appears that the NVIDIA RTX 5880 Ada will be a scaled-down version of the RTX 6000 Ada. The latter features the AD102 GPU with 18,176 cores and 48 GB of GDDR6 memory. To comply with Total Processing Performance (TPP) requirements and fall within the 4800 TPP parameters, the RTX 5880 Ada is expected to adopt a reduced configuration of the same AD102 GPU.

The recent release of the NVIDIA RTX Enterprise 537.99 drivers, which adds support for the RTX 5880 Ada, indicates that the specifications for this product are finalized. It is now a matter of time before the official launch within the consumer segment.

The RTX 5880 Ada is anticipated to be an exclusive variant for the Chinese market, mirroring the pricing structure of the RTX 6000 Ada, which currently retails at approximately $6800 USD. Featuring a substantial 48 GB memory pool, the GPU caters to a broad range of applications, including AI workloads, content creation, and rendering tasks, aligning with the primary design focus of the Ada RTX series.

Expectations are high for the launch of the NVIDIA RTX 5880 Ada GPU, with indications pointing towards a potential release in the upcoming month of January. This timeframe coincides with the anticipated launch of the GeForce RTX 4090 D gaming graphics card, specifically designed for the Chinese market.
