NVIDIA brings its new army of GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs to the CES 2022 event

NVIDIA is increasing its GeForce RTX 30 series lineup with the latest GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16 GB, and RTX 3050 8 GB options, in addition to the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card.

Ampere GeForce RTX 30 series launches for the desktop market have quadrupled, putting the green team ahead of AMD in terms of SKUs launched this generation. There are now 11 graphics cards in the RTX 30 GPU lineup: the 3090 Ti, 3090, 3080 Ti, 3080 12 GB, 3080, 3070 Ti 16 GB, 3070 Ti, 3070, 3060 Ti, 3060, and the 3050. The new cards provide gamers with more options, with varied price/performance positions as seen in the specifications below.

NVIDIA has enabled a total of 70 SM units in the GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, resulting in a total of 8960 CUDA cores, a 3% increase over the normal RTX 3080. NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 includes CUDA cores as well as next-generation RT (Ray-Tracing) cores, Tensor cores, and brand new SM or streaming multi-processor units. The TDP of the card is indicated to be 350W.

In terms of memory, the new GeForce RTX 3080 comes with 12 GB of memory, which is also next-generation GDDR6X. The RTX 3080 can achieve 19.0 Gbps GDDR6X memory rates thanks to Micron’s freshest and finest graphics memory chips. This, along with a 384-bit bus interface, results in a total bandwidth of 912 GB/s, a 20% improvement over the 10 GB variant.

The RTX 3070 Ti has also been updated by NVIDIA to use more memory at a higher efficiency than the current RTX 3080 series. It’s hardly surprising, given that the GeForce RTX 3060 has double the VRAM capacity, but the rest of the specs will remain unchanged. The card will be equipped with the latest 21 Gbps GDDR6X modules across a 256-bit architecture, providing 672 GB/s of bandwidth, an increase of 10% over the 8 GB variant. This will result in better performance in high-resolution games and games with high-resolution textures.

The GeForce RTX 3050 Ti will use the same GA106 GPU as the GeForce RTX 3060 but in a reduced configuration. With a TGP of 130 Watts, the card will have 20 SM units and 2560 CUDA cores. The entry-level graphics card will also have 8 GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 14 Gbps and a 128-bit wide bus interface with a total bandwidth of 224 GB/s. On January 27th, the graphics card will be available in a variety of unique flavors for $249 US.

In terms of performance, the GeForce RTX 3050 8 GB graphics card will deliver over 60 FPS at 1080p in various AAA titles, with the usage of 2nd Gen RT and new Tensor cores extending the performance rating even further, representing a significant improvement over the GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
