Nvidia AD102 Ada Lovelace GPU rumored to be faster than GeForce RTX 3090 GPU

According to a recent leak regarding a full-fat NVIDIA AD102 Ada Lovelace GPU, the top-tier GPU will be able to outperform the GeForce RTX 3090, which is now the GPU king. You inquire as to the card’s speed. It appears to be able to run Remedy’s Control at 4K resolution and with a frame rate of at least 100.

To be clear, the non-Ti version of the purported RTX 4090 that has been making the rounds online should not be confused with the rumor concerning the AD102. In contrast, the full-fat AD102 GPU has up to 18432 CUDA cores, which is almost 12 percent more than the CUDA core count that the RTX 4090 is anticipated to have.

The AD102 GPU was able to run the game Control at 4K resolution, with framerates maintaining themselves above the 160 fps threshold, claims AGF (@XpeaGPU), a user on Twitter. Furthermore, such framerates were also accomplished with DLSS and ray-tracing enabled, albeit that wasn’t without its own set of issues. The GPU was also said to have drawn more than 800W from the wall to reach such statistics.

Comparatively, the Nvidia RTX 3090 would produce around half as many frames with the same resolution and enabled ray-tracing.

Given that there was a recent story about another rumor regarding the RTX 4090 and how it is anticipated to be over 70% faster than the RTX 3090, the appearance of this AD102 rumor is interesting. However, those performance estimates should be taken with the customary grain of salt as they were allegedly based on an as-of-yet unknown 3DMark Time Spy Extreme benchmark.

Another issue is that there are still some variables that aren’t present, which makes statements about the AD102’s strength at this time questionable. To begin with, the source makes no mention of the precise game settings that the GPU used to run Control, nor does it mention whether the Lovelace GPU is genuinely utilizing a new generation of Tensor Cores.
