Nuno Tavares to join Marseille for 2022/23 season with no buy option

Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares is set to join Marseille on a straight loan deal until 2023 with no option to buy. The transfer has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, which means that it is only a matter of time before the deal is made official by both clubs. 

Over the last few days, there were rumours that Atalanta were interested in signing him as well. But, they wanted a loan plus buy option in the deal. The Gunners consider the youngster a part of their plans for the future, and are hence only loaning him out temporarily. 

Nuno Tavares to join Marseille soon 

The 22-year-old will be loaned to Marseille this season, and will follow in the footsteps of William Saliba from last season. The Frenchman was the best defender in Ligue 1 during his time with the club, and helped them achieve Champions League qualification as well. 

Now, he is set to be included in Mikel Arteta’s squad while Nuno Tavares makes way for the time being. Kieran Tierney is the first-choice left-back, while Oleksandr Zinchenko can also play in that position. However, he might be used in midfield under Mikel Arteta instead. 

Tavares has shown glimpses of his talent during his time at Arsenal. And in the coming years, he is expected to be a part of the first team. However, he will be playing for Marseille during the 22/23 season.
