Nubia Z40 Pro launches with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chip, 9x periscope camera, magnetic charging, and more

Nubia, the sub-brand of ZTE, has officially launched the Nubia Z40 Pro in China. This is the latest flagship smartphone from the company and the successor to the Nubia Z30 Pro from last year.

The device comes with an improved set of specs and a revamped design as well. Let us take a detailed look at the specs of the device.

The Nubia Z40 Pro has a boxy design like the Z30 Pro, the camera module, however, is different. The new model has only three lenses that are placed vertically. The predecessor has three sensors arranged in an L-shape and there is also a fourth sensor below them.

In terms of build, the Nubia Z40 has an anti-glare glass sandwich design with a metal frame, it comes in Interstellar Black and Galaxy colorways. There is also a special edition of the smartphone that has been themed after the anime series, ‘The Outcast’.

It has a 6.67″ curved OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels with 395 PPI and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It comes with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a centered punch-hole camera.

The Nubia Z40 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chip and it has been paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on Android 12-based MyOS 12.

The device has a triple camera setup on the rear with a primary Sony IMX787 64MP sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide unit, and an 8MP 9x periscope shooter with OIS. For selfies and video calls, there is a 16MP snapper.

In terms of connectivity options available, there is 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GNSS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It offers an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual-stereo speakers with support for DTS:X Ultra, and an X-axis vibration motor.

The Z40 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The handset comes with a magnetic charging edition as well, making it the first Android phone to do so.

The Nubia Z40 Pro will be available for pre-order in China starting 2nd March and will retail at $538 or 40,378 INR for the 8GB+128GB variant, $586 or 43,982 INR for the 8GB+256GB variant, $633 or 47,510 INR or 12GB+256GB variant, $712 or 53,439 INR for the 12GB+512GB variant.

The magnetic charging edition retails for $681 or 51,112 INR for the 12GB+256GB variant and the 16GB+1TB variant is priced at $950 or 71,302 INR. The Outcast Limited Edition will come in a 12GB+256GB variant that has been priced at $744 or 55,841 INR.
