Nothing Phone 3a Series Launching on March 4 With Snapdragon Chipset, Faster CPU, and NPU for Improved AI Performance
In a community post, Pei announced the decision to switch back to Qualcomm for the Nothing Phone 3a series, stating, “I’m happy to announce that we are going back to the Qualcomm Snapdragon series with the Phone (3a).” While he did not specify the exact chipset, he claimed that the CPU would be 25 percent faster and the NPU would see a 72 percent performance boost compared to the Phone 2a Plus.
Previous reports have suggested that the Nothing Phone 3a could be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. It is also said to feature a 6.8-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and will run Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15. The smartphone will likely feature the signature Glyph interface as well. Since then, leaks have suggested that the Nothing Phone 3a could feature an additional button on the right side of the phone.
It has been speculated, however, that this could be a dedicated camera shutter button. Or maybe an action button like the one on the iPhone 15 Pro with customizable AI-based functions. The state of the Phone 3a series being manufactured at its plant in Chennai, India, has not been verified. The company has more than 500 employees, and 95% of them are female. So it is not yet known if the units built in India will be exclusively sold in the country, or exported to other markets.
