While the launch of Nothing Phone 2a was a success, Nothing’s fan purchase of high value and the marketing campaign behind Carl Pei’s Bhait are both at play, Android enthusiasts can’t wait to get their hands on the next major flagship Nothing Phone 3. It’s still early days to discuss leaks around the third model, but Carl Pei himself hinted recently at its design and a part of the primary feature. Carl posted on X a couple of days ago that Nothing OS 3 would see a modified quick settings panel.
What is this New Button on the Nothing Phone 3?
From the images, the button is located just below the power button and appears to be smaller than the other buttons, therefore its high placement suggests that it is not dedicated to a camera shutter. Then what is it?
First, it could be a customizable key; similar to the iPhone 15 Action button, the key may be used to set custom actions when pressed, for example turning the torch on or off, taking a screenshot, or activating DND. Given the fact that Nothing has focused on what it likes by offering more customizable features in its OS. Secondly, it could be a dedicated AI button used for summoning the ChatGPT Voice.
In its current releases, Nothing has introduced a feature of launching ChatGPT using their Ear and Ear TWS and added widgets and shortcuts to assist ease the AI chatbot access. Hence this thought wouldn’t be wrong. On the other hand, this could be the Nothing Phone’s or Carl Pei’s version of the OnePlus alert slider. The OnePlus alert slider was first introduced by OnePlus under Carl Pei, given that he later created Nothing, it is possible that he is introducing the alert slider feature again.
The quick settings board in the picture above is outfitted with a horizontal slider that contains the inscription “Vibrate” in the center. The display is comparable to the function of three pictures of the alert slider, signaling that they must be alert sliders. There might be a strategic reason behind acquiring fans and spreading news before Nothing’s Phone 3 is released, as the launch is projected several months from now.
A metal plate runs via the new quick settings phone above, showing that this could be the Phone 3. However, this is only my observation and does not represent factual data. Carl Pei, known for his marketing prowess, is adept at creating hype around his products. The phone in the picture has a metal frame, hinting at the Phone 3, but everything remains speculative for now.
