According to a recent media interview, Carl Pei, the Co-Founder, and CEO of Nothing, has confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will have a global launch in July. One notable improvement over its predecessor, the Nothing Phone 1, is the slightly larger battery capacity of 4,700mAh compared to the previous 4,500mAh.
Pei also revealed that the Phone 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, marking a significant upgrade in performance. In a departure from the Phone 1, the second-generation device will be released simultaneously in the US and other parts of the world. It is expected that the design of the Nothing Phone 2 will remain largely unchanged from its predecessor.
All About the Nothing Phone 2!
In an interview with Forbes, Carl Pei shared further details about the upcoming Nothing Phone 2. He confirmed the July launch date and disclosed the increased battery capacity of 4,700mAh, providing users with more power throughout the day. The US market will be able to enjoy the Phone 2 alongside the global release, unlike the Phone 1, which was not officially available in the US.
However, US buyers were given the opportunity to participate in a special beta program for the Phone 1 by paying a fee of $299. This gave them access to a black variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Pei had previously revealed that the Nothing Phone 2 will feature the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, indicating a substantial performance boost compared to the mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ SoC found in the Phone 1. The Nothing Phone 2 is expected to offer an enhanced user experience compared to its predecessor.
The Phone 1 was launched in India in July last year at an initial price of ₹32,999 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. However, the price was later increased by ₹1,000 in August.
Key specifications of the Nothing Phone 1 include a 6.55-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, a 50-megapixel dual-camera setup on the rear, and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. It offers up to 256GB of internal storage and up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
The device is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 33W wired charging, 15W Qi wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging. Notably, the smartphone is known for its unique transparent back panel with LED lighting, referred to as the Glyph Interface.
