Nothing‘s The Truth Event was scheduled for today and lots of people like us were excited about it. Though the leaks and hits about Nothing’s first smartphone were already there on the internet, the official announcement along with the first look is always special. During The Truth event, Carl announced the Nothing Phone 1, however, kept all the essential details still inside. He also shared the plans for Nothing and the actual aim of this company.

Nothing The Truth Event Announcements

Nothing Phone 1

This is the main announcement people were waiting for. Carl, the co-founder and CEO of Nothing, reveals that with this device and the innovations they are trying to cover up the gap between the future tech we expect and the present stagnant tech field with almost no innovation. The Nothing Phone 1 will have Nothing OS, on which I’m coming later, Qualcomm’s SoC power, and unique hardwares. The Nothing Phone 1 is coming in Summer 2022. So, let your excitement increase a bit more.

Nothing has shown one illustration while talking about Phone 1 and the hardware, which is still confusing and mysterious for all the viewers. However, WIRED shows, this could be the backside of the upcoming smartphone. The Camera module is clear there and for me, the G shape in the centre is for the wireless charging setup.

Nothing OS

As per Carl, the Nothing OS is the best of Android. The Nothing Team tasks out all the bloatware, avoids unnecessary animations and added the simplest ones. They promise 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patch updates. The OS maintains Nothing’s Black and White doted theme, however, my expectation says it’s the default one and we may customise or change that. All the available widgets also get the unique doted touch that creates the clear cut separation for the other OS in the market. The most interesting point is it will be available to install in launcher form from April onwards for selected devices.

SoC

Carl already revealed the Nothing-Qualcomm partnership long back. So, needless to say, the Nothing Phone 1 will be powered by a Qualcomm SoC. During the event, Carl mentions Nothing’s aim is to provide the best alternative of Apple devices and re-energies the innovation in the market. So, to fulfil it Nothing team may use one of Qualcomm’s best and latest chips, where the chance for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is high.

The smartphone will use the Qualcomm platform and its offerings like connectivity, processing power, and others, in the best way possible.

Investment

Nothing is going to open for community investment for the second time very soon. Last time, they had $1.5 million which was closed in almost in a minute. This time Nothing has aimed to raise $10 million. The date and time are not announced yet. We will update once it’s out.
