No Trailer, No Spoilers: Why Mollywood Times Director Wants You to Walk in Blind — and Why That’s a Bold Bet

Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s daring no-trailer decision for Naslen’s June 5 release is either an act of creative confidence or the most intriguing marketing move in recent Malayalam cinema.

Imagine a film arriving in theatres with zero trailer, a director actively telling you to skip even the teaser, and audiences still queuing up purely on faith. That’s exactly the gamble Abhinav Sunder Nayak is placing with Mollywood Times, his upcoming comedy-drama starring Naslen, releasing on June 5, 2026. The Bold Decision: No Trailer, Watch Blind

When a social media user called out the makers for what they saw as poor pre-release planning, director Abhinav Sunder Nayak responded directly — and his reply surprised everyone. He not only confirmed the no-trailer stance but actively urged fans to avoid even the teaser if they could.

His reasoning was simple and refreshing: go in knowing as little as possible. It’s a rare, gutsy call in an era where films are marketed to exhaustion weeks before release, and it instantly made Mollywood Times the most talked-about Malayalam release of the week.

What Is Mollywood Times About?

The film centres on a passionate young man who dreams of becoming the greatest horror film director in Malayalam cinema, drawing deep inspiration from Hollywood maestro M. Night Shyamalan. It tracks the obstacles he encounters and the extreme lengths he’ll go to in chasing that dream. The makers themselves have described it as a “hate letter” to cinema — a provocative label that only adds to the intrigue.

The Cast: A Familiar Mollywood Ensemble

Naslen leads the film, supported by Sharaf U Dheen as co-lead. The supporting cast is a strong one — Sangeeth Prathap, Althaf Salim, Roshan Shanavas, Prasanth Alexander, and Rajesh Madhavan all feature in key roles. Adding extra excitement, Basil Joseph and Vineeth Sreenivasan are expected to appear in cameos, two names that instantly lift any Malayalam project’s credibility.

Naslen’s Packed Slate — What’s Next?

Beyond Mollywood Times, Naslen is one of the busiest young actors in Mollywood right now. He is currently filming Suriya47, directed by Jithu Madhavan, which pairs Suriya with Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and has music by Sushin Shyam — expected to wrap production by end of June 2026. He has also completed Bachelor Party D’eux (a sequel), is part of Asif Ali’s Tiki Taka, and has been confirmed for Mammootty’s Mattancherry Mafia directed by Khalid Rahman. On the flip side, the much-anticipated Premalu sequel has been officially shelved after Naslen himself confirmed screenplay issues.
