Contrary to earlier plans, there will be no grand opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 4.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has faced its fair share of challenges in hosting the 2023 World Cup. From criticism over the tournament’s schedule to venue-related chaos and a ticketing scandal, it hasn’t been a smooth ride.

The news of the canceled opening ceremony hasn’t been received well by fans. Many took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration. Some fans expressed their skepticism, hoping that the decision might still change.

Originally, the opening ceremony was supposed to take place at 7 PM IST, right after a ‘Captains’ Day’ event at the Narendra Modi Stadium. While the ‘Captains’ Day’ event is still scheduled, there’s been no official announcement regarding the cancellation of the opening ceremony.
