In Bollywood recasting always happened spontaneously, there are nine MCU recasting characters in the queue. often without us even knowing it, as some of the instances in the following gallery show. From the Harry Potter films to Michael Gambon as Dumbledore after actor Richard Harris passed away between the second and third films.
In MCU you will get many cults film, where the characters have been recast due to scheduling issues, sometimes, the actor gets high opportunities and many more. In this MCU list, you will get Iron Man to The Incredible Hulk.

9. What If…? Members
“What If..?” is undoubtedly among the highly anticipated animated shows. Numerous MCU actors have returned to portray their characters in this series. The decision to recast certain characters was influenced by factors such as scheduling conflicts and contractual obligations. Mick Wingers has played the role of Iron Man / Tony Stark, Lake Bell as Natasha Romanov/ Black Widow, Jos Keaton plays Steve Rogers/ Captain America, and Alexandra Daniels as Carol Danvers.
8. Fandral: Josh Dallas / Zachary Levi
Originally, Marvel Studios required Zachery Levi to play the character due to a conflict in scheduling. Marvel has moved onto Stuart Townsend, who has left creative distances, and Josh Dallas for the Thor movie. Once again, scheduling conflicts arise as Dallas leaves to play the role of Prince Charming on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and Marvel goes back to Levi.
7. Red Skull: Hugo Weaving / Ross Marquand
Hugo Weaving took on the role of Red Skull in Avengers: Endgame, but there were negotiation issues with Marvel Studios. As a result, Weaving moved on to Captain America: The First Avenger, and when it was time for his return, things had changed at Marvel Studios and he was offered three potential films with a higher payment. In Avengers: Endgame, Red Skull appeared as a purely CGI character with the voice provided by Ross Marquand.
6. Thanos: Damion Poitier / Josh Brolin
Thanos has appeared in The Avengers, the fact is Marvel Studios had no plan for him. The actor Damion Poitier is known as DC’s Goldface performed for the biggest and uncredited one Thanos in that Avengers post-credited scene. After beginning the Infinity Saga to appear jointly. Marvel Studios decided on the bigger name in the role and feature Josh Brolin known as the Mad Titan in Guardians of the galaxy Vol.1
5. Cassie Lang: Abby Ryder Fortson / Emma Fuhrmann / Kathryn Newton
Cassie Lang appears as the daughter of Ant-Man Scott Lang. Abby Ryder Fortson played the character in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp. She portrayed Cassie as a pre-teen character. After the five-year time jump between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, though, Marvel Studios needed to age Cassie up to match. She appears as the lead cast Emma Fuhrmann in the role. Since then, though, Marvel Studios has once again recast the role, this time with Kathryn Newton.
4. Howard Stark: Gerald Sanders / John Slattery / Dominic Cooper
Howard Stark appeared as Tony Stark’s inventor father in the first movie as a photograph in a slideshow, played by Gerald Sanders; this is from before the term making of the MCU. As the MCU warmed up, they needed an older Howard and cast John Slattery in the role. Slattery would play the character again in Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. After Iron Man 2, though, came Captain America: The First Avenger, which was set during World War II.
3. James “Rhodey” Rhodes: Terrence Howard / Don Cheadle
There is another early casting change came from studio/actor disagreements. Terrence Howard played James “Rhodey” Rhodes, the eventual pilot of the Iron Man suit renowned as War Machine, in the first film. At the time, Howard was the highest-paid actor in Iron Man. After getting the highest payment offer the actor has chosen not to work together, prompting the studio to cast Don Cheadle in the role.
2. General / Secretary “Thunderbolt” Ross: William Hurt / Harrison Ford
In The Incredible Hulk, actor William Hurt portrayed General “Thunderbolt” Ross, who served as one of Hulk’s main adversaries. Hurt reprised this role three more times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity saga and made his final appearance in Black Widow. Sadly, Hurt passed away in 2022.
1. The Incredible Hulk: Edward Norton / Mark Ruffalo
In MCU one of the big recasting is Edward Norton brought us the most authentic-feeling take on the Incredible Hulk yet. The next time we saw the character, though, he was played by Mark Ruffalo. After a decade appears as She-Hulk would joke about the casting change when Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner says that he feels like a completely different person from when he fought the Abomination in this first movie. Interestingly, Ruffalo had been Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier’s first choice for the character.
