Internet sleuths went wild when Nick Jonas was spotted stepping out of the Golden Globes ceremony, leaving wife Priyanka Chopra inside. With two of his ex-girlfriends—Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus—in attendance, rumors exploded. Here’s what actually happened.

| Real Reason | Social anxiety from new song “Gut Punch” |
What Really Happened at the Golden Globes?
The glamorous evening saw Hollywood’s power couple, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, arrive hand-in-hand, looking stunning on the red carpet. But a viral clip changed the narrative when fans noticed Nick stepping outside the venue alone, sipping water from a bottle.
Social media immediately connected the dots: Selena Gomez (Nick’s ex from 2008-2009) and Miley Cyrus (who dated Nick in 2006) were both present at the ceremony. Speculation ran rampant about awkward encounters and uncomfortable vibes.
Nick’s Honest Explanation
Instead of letting rumors fester, Nick Jonas took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight. When a fan commented that “social anxiety got the best of him,” the Jonas Brothers singer replied candidly: “Yeah…it hit me like a gut punch.”
The response cleverly referenced his latest single “Gut Punch,” released in early January 2026. The song’s lyrics explore self-criticism and inner dialogue, with lines like: “Hit me like a gut punch, I hurt my own feelings. How did I get so good at being mean to myself?”
The Heat Factor Nobody Talked About
Before the ceremony, both Nick and Priyanka mentioned to red carpet journalists that the venue was uncomfortably hot. This detail, initially overlooked by fans focused on the ex-girlfriend angle, actually explains why Nick needed fresh air and water.
Priyanka’s Golden Globes Moment
While Nick dealt with his social anxiety, Priyanka Chopra shined on stage. The Bollywood-turned-Hollywood star presented the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama to Noah Wyle for “The Pitt.” She walked hand-in-hand with BLACKPINK’s Lisa, creating another memorable red carpet moment.
According to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the 2026 ceremony celebrated exceptional achievements across film and television.
