A Return to the Director’s Chair: Koshi Nakanishi Takes the Helm

Nakanishi’s experience with Resident Evil is extensive. He not only helmed the series’ revitalization with RE7 in 2017, but also holds directing credits for RE: Revelations and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. He even played a part in designing RE(Resident Evil)5. Nakanishi’s passion for the franchise is evident, and fans can undoubtedly expect a thrilling new entry under his guidance.

In a recent statement, Nakanishi acknowledged the challenges of following up the success of RE7: “It was really difficult to figure out what to do after (RE7). But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial.” While details remain tightly under wraps, Nakanishi’s enthusiasm is infectious, leaving fans eager to discover what horrors await them in the next installment.

Resident Evil 9: A Long-Awaited Revelation?

Rumors of a potential “Resident Evil 9” have been circulating throughout 2024, and with Capcom’s official confirmation, speculation can finally turn towards anticipation. While the official title remains undisclosed, the association with Nakanishi and the success of RE7 heavily suggest this to be the next mainline entry in the series.

Expectations for the Upcoming Resident Evil

With limited information available, fans are left to theorize about the upcoming title. One possibility is a return to first-person perspective, as Nakanishi’s expertise with this view in RE7 could shape the new game’s direction.

Another intriguing prospect is a new brand of horror, suggested by Nakanishi’s statement about the project feeling “substantial,” which might indicate a significant shift in gameplay or narrative themes. Additionally, players might either revisit familiar locations or explore entirely new environments teeming with fresh terrors, adding to the excitement and mystery surrounding the game.

The Future of Resident Evil Looks Bright

Capcom’s confirmation of the next RE(Resident Evil), coupled with Nakanishi’s return to the helm, injects a potent dose of excitement into the franchise.

With a director known for innovation and a fanbase eager for more, the future of RE appears nothing short of terrifyingly thrilling. While details remain scarce, one thing’s for certain: the next chapter in the RE saga is sure to send shivers down spines when it eventually arrives.
