Next-Gen Tata Tiago & Tiago.ev Launched: Starts at ₹4.69 Lakh, and It’s a Big Deal

Tata Motors just pulled off something genuinely impressive today. The next-gen Tiago — India’s beloved entry-level hatchback — has been launched with a sweeping redesign, a massively upgraded interior, and a price that starts at just ₹4.69 lakh. And the Tiago.ev? Tata has actually reduced prices with this update — the new Tiago EV starts at ₹6.99 lakh, down from the outgoing model’s ₹7.99 lakh entry point. That’s not a minor refresh. That’s a statement.

A New Look That Finally Feels Modern

The new Tiago gets a redesigned front fascia, a new bumper and sharper-looking LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and LED fog lamps. In the rear, the car gets slim, connected LED tail-lamps, a reworked bumper, a roof spoiler and a shark-fin antenna. The Tiago is now equipped with new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The result is a hatchback that looks genuinely punchy on the road — far removed from the conservative, rounded styling of the outgoing model. The 2026 Tiago is available in six colour options: Daytona Grey, Pangong Pulse, Pristine White, Pure Grey, Sobo Surge, and Varanasi Vibrance — giving buyers plenty of personality to choose from, including some vibrant options that make the car look far more expensive than its price suggests.

The Interior Glow-Up Is Real

This is where the biggest transformation has happened. Tata designers have completely reworked the interior of the Tiago to give it a more modern and cleaner look. The car comes with a new 2-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster, a freestanding 10.25-inch touchscreen in the centre, redesigned AC vents and centre console.

The feature list is genuinely class-leading at this price: automatic climate control with rear AC vents, a 4-speaker sound system, a cooled glove box, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 360-degree camera and dual wireless chargers round out an interior that would be impressive at twice the price.

Same Engines, But a Segment First for CNG

Under the bonnet, the 2026 Tiago retains the outgoing model’s powertrains — a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine in 86hp petrol and 75.5hp CNG guises, with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT for both versions. As a first for its segment, the 2026 Tiago CNG AMT gets paddle shifters. That last detail is a meaningful differentiator in a budget segment that rarely sees such thoughtful feature additions.

Tata has also strengthened the 2026 Tiago’s bodyshell for added safety credentials, with six airbags now on offer — again, something that punches well above the car’s price bracket.

The Tiago.ev: India’s Most Accessible EV Just Got Better

The updated car gets revised exterior styling, a redesigned dual-tone interior, added features, improved safety and updated charging capabilities, while continuing with its existing 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery pack options. Tata claims a 0-60kph time of 5.7 seconds for the 24kWh version.

The feature list includes connected car technology with more than 40 functions, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control and rear AC vents. Four-level regenerative braking and city and sport drive modes add welcome depth for daily driving. Tata is also offering a lifetime unlimited kilometres warranty on the high-voltage battery pack for the 24kWh version for the first registered owner — a bold move that should put range anxiety to rest for first-time EV buyers.

As Autocar India notes, the Tiago continues to rival the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in the petrol space, while the Tiago.ev goes up against the MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3. Given the spec sheet and the price cut on the EV, those rivals have genuine reason to worry.
