Newcastle United are gaining pace in their pursuit of Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes. Manager Eddie Howe is keen on working with the player for the coming season, and is pushing to sign him in the coming weeks. However, the Magpies are not the only ones interested in signing him.
West Ham and Aston Villa have looked into the possibility of signing the player. But, Newcastle United are currently the most advanced in negotiations to get the deal done.
Harvey Barnes close to signing for Newcastle United
The 25-year-old is a Leicester City academy graduate, but is likely to move on after their shocking relegation at the end of 22/23. In spite of their dismal performances, he was able to put up impressive individual figures.
In 34 Premier League games last season, he scored 13 goals and provided one assist. And now, is growing closer to a return to the top flight with St James’s Park the most probable destination for him.
Newcastle United are optimistic of wrapping up a deal for Harvey Barnes for under £40 million. They have spent big money on signing Sandro Tonali from AC Milan after qualifying for the Champions League, and the addition of Barnes will provide further quality to the young squad that Howe has built of the Toons.
While a deal is not in the closing stages, Newcastle are clearly leading the race, being able to provide Champions League football to the player for the coming season.
