New Year, New Obsession: The Twin’s Jamie Dornan’s Double Trouble Arrives January 1

Netflix just shuffled its calendar, and thriller fans will have to wait a little longer. The Twin, the crime-noir series starring Jamie Dornan in a dual role, was originally slated for 2026. It now lands on January 1, 2027, a pretty fitting way to start the year.

The Twin: Overview

What’s The Twin Story?

Nicola (Mackenzie Davis) is trapped in a loveless marriage to Adam. Then his long-estranged identical twin, Lee, crashes back into her life. After a split-second decision and a tragic accident leave Adam dead, Nicola and Lee strike a risky pact. Lee will take on his brother’s identity so police believe the free-spirited twin died instead.

Over one tense week, the two struggle to keep their secrets straight while old feelings resurface. The clock, as the series makes clear, is ticking.

Who’s in the Cast?

Dornan playing both brothers is the big hook here. For more on the actor, see Jamie Dornan on Wikipedia.

Behind the Camera

The series is written by Sarah Dollard (Doctor Who), Hanna Jameson, Scout Cripps and Kam Odedra. It’s based on the Norwegian series Twin, which starred Kristofer Hivju of Game of Thrones fame. Nira Park, Rachael Prior, David Flynn and Paul Lee are among the executive producers.

Why You Should Care?

• Dual-role drama. Playing two men with opposite personalities is a showcase for Dornan.
• Tight format. Seven episodes means no filler.
• Moody scenery. Filming in the Scottish Highlands gives the noir a dramatic backdrop.
• Perfect binge timing. A New Year’s Day premiere fits a long holiday weekend.
