Instagram and Facebook Messenger are looking to borrow an interesting feature of Snapchat, which is the “Vanish Mode”. It is a message disappearing feature of Snapchat which we will see on Instagram and FB Messenger as well in the upcoming days. Let’s discuss in detail the Vanish Mode.
Vanish Mode is nothing but a message disappearing feature that lets users send messages on DMs without it staying in the chat history. Facebook had already made an announcement regarding this feature back in September. If you swipe your existing chat thread, the feature will be on, and after the second swipe, you can get out of this feature, back in your normal chat mode.
If you are using Facebook, you can use this feature only if you are connected as a friend with the other person. Similarly in group chats, you can not use this feature. It only works in private chats.
In terms of Instagram, it is quite similar that if you are sending a text message to another person, as soon as the person will see that particular text, it will get vanished. However, Instagram has already such a kind of feature by which the sent photos and videos disappear once they have been viewed.
Turning on this feature, if someone takes a screenshot of the chat before it vanishes, the software will immediately send a notification to the sender that the particular text has been screenshotted. But for the regular chats, you can screenshot them with no headache. The sender will be notified of nothing. This vanish mode is currently available on Messenger in some countries including the US. It will be available for Instagram and in other countries very soon.
Apart from this, we’re already experiencing the Instagram reels and shop button features. After the ban of TikTok in India, the Instagram reel is a similar type of platform that gives people an opportunity to share their new ideas and creativity in front of the world. On the other hand, the shop button of Instagram brings different shop channels, shoppable videos, and new product collections, for a closer integration with brands to its users which is definitely an innovative step from Insta.
