Why This Creative Team Makes Sense

Goldstein and Daley have proven their ability to stage fun action sequences and write for large ensembles, skills that are essential for any Star Trek adventure. Their track record includes:

Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) – Screenplay
Game Night (2018) – Directed
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) – Directed

Dungeons & Dragons was one of Paramount’s best-scored films from 2023, earning a 91% from critics and 92% from audience members. The duo demonstrated they could revitalize beloved franchises while honoring their spirit and making them accessible to new audiences.

A Fresh Start for Star Trek

This project marks a complete departure, as it will not be a continuation of the J.J. Abrams-led reboot series and won’t feature Chris Pine or any actors from those movies. While some fans may feel nostalgic for the Kelvin timeline, this clean slate approach frees the creative team from continuity constraints.

The decision aligns with Paramount’s renewed focus on revitalizing its most enduring franchises following Skydance’s takeover. Star Trek remains one of the studio’s most valuable intellectual properties, spanning over five decades of television and film.
