Finally, after a lot of rumours, talks and hassle Apple has announced its new M2 chip and yes the new redesigned MacBook Air which will surely excite a lot of you. It brings a completely new design, new display and a lot of new things that will definitely excite you but has an increased starting price of $1119 or ₹1,19,900 in India.
New MacBook Air with upgraded M2 chip is finally here
As named, this new MacBook Air will weigh only 1.2kg, and has a new design element to it, with a slightly more squared-off body and for the first time in history, the entry-level MacBook will not have a tapered wedge design. Thanks to the new design you have a much bigger screen without increasing the chassis much and look reminiscent of the existing new MacBook Pro lineup of 14-inch and 16-inch notebooks.
Also, there are a bunch of new colors including new silver, space grey, starlight and midnight, not as colorful as we previously expected them to be but still, a bunch of new options do give the new M2 MacBook Air an edge over others.
The increased 13.6-inch display on the new MacBook Air gives more screen real estate for those who want to see more out of their display. Also, you have the new notch which you have already been familiar with on the new MacBook Pros, now some might like or some might hate it according to his/her preference.
This is a Liquid Retina display, a good upgrade over the last-gen Retina display and should offer significantly better quality, now offering up to 500 nits of peak brightness. Also, its very color accuracy supports up to 1 billion colors and should have a great DCI-P3 color gamut.
On top of this, you have the new 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a big upgrade this time and combined with the abilities which that M2 chip brings, we are sure a lot of people will genuinely love this. Also, you have your favourite Backlit Magic keyboard to type all your favourite emotions/work onto your MacBook.
In terms of audio too, you have a good upgrade, now with quad speakers, and much like the MacBook Pros, spatial audio support is here for the new MacBook. Apple promises to provide you with the best performance with the new M2 chip and tells you that the new MacBook Air will give a significant bump in professional work like video editing.
Apple tells that the new MacBook Air is 20% faster than the predecessor with an M1 chip in image filters and effects performance whereas in terms of video editing, the new MacBook Air is 38% faster than the M1 variant, again a great sign of improvement, all of this still in a fan-less design.
Obviously, Magsafe charging is back for you and Touch ID is also there, then you have an optional 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter option as well. Apple promises a 50% charge in just 30 minutes and a battery life of up to 18 hours of video playback, the same as that of its predecessor.
This is a very capable upgrade this time around and that’s why Apple has put a starting price tag of $1119 or ₹1,19,900 for the based 8GB unified memory and 256GB SSD variant, you can configure up to 24GB unified memory along with 2TB SSD option. Apple will be taking orders of this new MacBook Air from next month from its online store and other retailers as well.
