New Intel 9th Generation Core Processors launched

Intel launches new 9th Gen Core Processors with up to 8 cores and 16 threads with 5GHz Turbo Boost in Clock Speed

Chip maker Intel has finally unveiled their new set of processors – the 9th Gen Core processors based on 14++ nm architecture. Surprisingly, Intel has only unveiled the 3 higher end CPUs- Core i9-9900K (8-Core), i7-9700K, & i5-9600K.

These CPUs are drop-in compatible with current Coffee Lake and Z370 platforms. These new CPUs are also accompanied by a new Z390 chipset and associated motherboards as well.

Much like Ryzen 2nd gen, Intel has only launched the higher end processors after Core i5 and newly introduced the Core i9-9900K. The new Core i9-9900K has similar specs as we predicted before.

The Core i9-9900K has a max clock frequency boost up to 5GHz. This time the TDPs of these new 9th gen processors will be 95W, and all of them are overclockable… đŸ™‚

These new 9th Gen processors have been termed as the World’s Best Gaming Processors by Intel.

All the processors are expected to be available in the market from 19th October.

New Chips with 8 cores

This is the first time that Intel has announced a processor with 8 cores and extended the number of threads to 16. The thing that is more interesting is that the base clock speed of the cores is near around 3.6GHz.

These 8 core CPUs will directly compete with AMD’s mainstream Ryzen CPUs that are known for its “large number of a number of threads and cores.” Intel has claimed that these processors will help gamers particularly to get higher frame rates in games.

With 8 cores, works like Video Editing, Image processing, developing and others will just also become buttery smooth.

The Core i9-9900K leads the list with 8 cores and 16 threads, which makes this a total beast. It has a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz at 95W TDP and a turbo up to 5.0 GHz on two cores. A big disappointment of the 9th gen processors is that it has a DDR4 memory support only up to dual-channel 2666MHz.

The Core i9-9900K has been build upon the Core i7-8086K from the 8th Generation product line by adding two more cores to it. Also, the turbo clock speed has been increased to 5.0 GHz from one core to two cores.

The all-core turbo clock speed is 4.7 GHz. So, it will be interesting to see what the power consumption is when the processor is overclocked to max clock speed. The Core i9 family will feature a full 2MB of L3 cache per core.

The Core i7-9700K has 8 cores but without the hyperthreading. This one will have a base frequency of 3.6 GHz with a given 95W TDP. This Core i7 can turbo boosted up to 4.9 GHz only on a single core.

The i7-9700K is the direct upgrade over the Core i7-8700K. Although both of the chips have the same underlying Coffee Lake microarchitecture, the 9700K has two more cores and slightly better turbo performance, but less L3 cache per core at only 1.5MB per core.

Another mid-end overclocked based processor is the Core i5-9600K, with 6 cores without hyperthreading. You will notice a lot of similarity of the 9th Gen Core i5 to the 8th Gen Core, but with added frequency.
