New Avengers: Doomsday Promo Ignites Unannounced MCU Superhero Return Speculation

Avengers: Doomsday received an expanded ScreenX version of its second trailer, and fans quickly noticed a heartfelt moment between Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Kathryn Newton’s Cassie Lang. The setting appears to be a classic New York apartment with a metallic staircase, which looks a lot like the home Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop lived in with Lucky the Pizza Dog in Hawkeye and The Marvels. That similarity sparked speculation about a surprise comeback.

Why the Theory Might Not Hold Up?

Before you celebrate, the details don’t fully match. In the trailer, the stairs run alongside the kitchen, while in Hawkeye the food prep area is much more minimal. So unless Kate has done major redecorating, this may not be her apartment. ScreenX creates a 270-degree viewing angle, which can reveal extra details, so the format is worth studying closely.

Why Kate Could Still Appear?

Even if the apartment isn’t hers, there is reason to expect Bishop in the film. Cassie Lang is the only future Young Avenger currently confirmed for Doomsday, but evidence suggests Ms. Marvel is joining too, and it’s hard to imagine Kate staying home. A rumored cast list included Steinfeld. Robert Meyer Burnett has said Ms. Marvel will have a “cameo-esque role” and might not appear alone, which fuels talk that Bishop could have a similarly small part.

Could Clint Barton Return Too?

Jeremy Renner isn’t part of the announced cast, yet he recently hinted at donning the Hawkeye suit again with a cryptic social media photo. He’s already confirmed for the 2028 Avengers: Infinity Defense ride, so a big-screen return may also be possible. That would reunite the MCU’s two Hawkeyes.

What Happens Next?

The Young Avengers may play a bigger part in Secret Wars, with Doomsday mainly uniting the team. Many fans theorize their mission could involve finding Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Marvel has assembled 31 announced actors plus Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, yet notable heroes from Phases 4 to 6 are missing. Surprises are clearly possible when the film arrives on December 18.
