Netflix is unemploying 300 more employees. This week, Netflix has two different news, one is good and encouraging while another one is demotivating and discouraging. The good news is Netflix is continuing its belt-tightening phase and potential freefall.Co- CEO named Ted Srandos has confirmed that the business is going to launch very soon its ad-supported subscription tier, which has been rumored for a very long time.

On the other hand, the sad news is a notice has been given by Netflix stating that 300 more employees will be layoff by the company.

Netflix is unemploying 300 more employees

Before a few weeks, the ott platform has unemployed 150 employees in a round, among them, many of them are working in the company’s marketing or social media departments.

In these unemployed employees, it excludes the dozens of independent contractors and freelancers who have lost their jobs, including those in the company’s contentious original animation division.

According to Variety, these new layoffs are going to affect several company divisions, mainly in the United States.

New changes in the OTT platform

The OTT platform is going to launch a subscription tier for the users of the market. In other words of Srandos, it means “People who say: Hey, Netflix is too expensive for me and I don’t mind advertising”. Sarandos was on hand to confirm this at the Cannes Lions advertising festival in the meantime.

The streaming platform is continuously raising its price for a few years now. Sarandos has promised that these ads will not interfere with the currently paid subscription tiers.
